November marks the start of the key shopping season with Black Friday 2023. Discover trends in online spending, consumer habits, and upcoming tech events shaping this major campaign.

Are you one of those who hold off on shopping, waiting to snag a juicy Black Friday discount? We know you are (and so do the brands).

This week we dive headfirst into November, and into the big shopping season of the year, which begins with Black Friday and culminates with the Christmas campaign. In this new edition of our newsletter, we talk about it and give you some essential data if you run an e-commerce business. In addition, we also talk about the upcoming Apple Event, which has surprised everyone with its broadcast time, and the new subscription that Meta now offers in Europe for users who do not want to see ads in their applications.

Oh! Also this week, Nömad sneaks into the week's Trends&News thanks to a very special event that is already getting people talking.

We'll tell you all about it!👇🏼

Black Friday 2023: the data

Along with the Christmas season, the Black Friday campaign is one of those marked in red on brands' calendars, and with good reason. According to data from the 2023 Black Friday and Cyber Monday Report conducted by Webloyalty, this year an increase of 20% in online spending is anticipated compared to the previous year, with an average spend of €162, and a 45% increase in order volume is expected. Without a doubt, some data to keep in mind. But we'll give you a few more:

◼️Millennials and Boomers lead digital purchases on Black Friday. In fact, the profile of the shopper aged between 35 and 54 stands out (46.2%) during these dates. Likewise, it is very homogeneous in terms of gender: women (51.2%) and men (48.8%).

◼️The times of day when the highest volume of purchases is recorded are usually first thing in the morning (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.) and in the evening, at the end of the workday (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.).

◼️Regarding the preferred device for shopping, mobile is positioned as the favorite for 61.7% of shoppers, above computers, used in 36.6% of cases, or tablets, which only 1.7% of shoppers resort to.

Apple Event on the horizon (and with a new time)

The apple company announces the third Apple Event of the year and this time it does so by releasing it at an unusual time: 8 p.m. (1 a.m. here in Spain). Without a doubt, an event to follow with a cup of coffee and contemplate the novelties, which seem to be focused on the iMac and MacBook Pro. Although, as always, we will be expectant in case they announce any surprises.

In case you are as much an Apple fan as we are, we leave you the link to follow the event live. ⬇️

Meta announces that starting in November it will offer a monthly subscription in Europe

After several sanctions imposed by the European Union for failing to comply with the new Digital Services Act, Meta is getting serious and starting in November it offers a subscription for people who wish not to see ads on Instagram and Facebook. Users who pay for it will be able to enjoy its services for 13 euros per month if they sign up from an Android or iOS mobile, or for 10 euros per month if they subscribe from a web browser.

Regardless of where the user signs up, the 10 or 13 euro fee will cover accounts on Facebook and Instagram. That is, if a person has an account on Facebook and another on Instagram and both are linked in the Meta Accounts Center, they will only have to pay a single fee.

That will be the case until March of next year. From that moment on, Mark Zuckerberg's company explains that from that moment on, the accounts that users want to add and link to the Meta Accounts Center will mean an increase in the subscription fee of up to 6 euros.

You can check all the information offered by Meta here.

Círculo 500, a club to connect businesses

Over the last month, we have been building the identity of Círculo 500 into a brand that represents an exclusive club aimed at professionals and companies in Seville, which arises as an initiative by our CEO, Pegu Jurado, and in which the entire Nömad team has contributed their bit as sponsors.

It was a very exciting evening, surrounded by sound and lighting, and which began with a high level of anticipation on the part of the attendees. And at such a high level was, without a doubt, the conference given by Juan Martinez-Barea, president and founder of Universal Diagnostics S.A., and founder of Sputnik. Fundación El Mundo Que Viene, a great training project for ambitious young people from the south in which we have been involved since its inception.

Furthermore, the night was doubly special for us because many of our clients (now friends) were present, who, without thinking twice, have joined the great challenge of Círculo 500: creating an exclusive network of entrepreneurs and professionals that boosts Seville's possibilities in the business sphere.

This is Halloween 🎃

If you take a walk through your neighborhood shops or visit the social media accounts of your favorite brands, you will see that many of them have gone to great lengths to give their identity a creepy touch. We love this campaign that IKEA has launched in some countries under the name “Monster Not Included”, which gives a nod to that inexplicable terror we have all felt as children toward that supposed monster under our bed or hidden in the closet.
