Meta tests ad breaks

Meta has started experimenting with a new non-skippable ad format on its Instagram platform. This new feature, called an “ad break,” interrupts user browsing with three-to-five-second ads that must be watched before continuing to explore content.
Users selected to test this new feature have shared their experiences on platforms like X and Reddit, and many have expressed their frustration, labeling these ad breaks as a significant disruption to their user experience.
Although Meta has not made these changes official, it will need to consider initial user feedback and how this new feature might fit into a platform designed for fast-paced and fluid consumption.

Ikea Spain uses AI to improve the live shopping experience

Since the pandemic, Ikea has bet on live shopping, a form of online sales through live streaming. Now, it is going a step further by creating Laia, a virtual presenter powered by Artificial Intelligence who will assist the two hosts leading the broadcast where they will showcase new catalog items.
The event can be watched on the Ikea website, social media, and Movistar Plus+.

Google admits errors in its search-integrated AI

It has only been two weeks since Google implemented AI Overviews, the use of AI-generated answers in its search results, and it has already been forced to pull the feature due to providing inaccurate and/or absurd responses. For example, suggesting users add glue to pizza sauce so the cheese doesn't slide off.
It is not the first time Google has suspended the implementation of AI-powered features. Earlier this year, it had to pause AI image generation for creating images with historical inconsistencies, such as Black individuals in Nazi uniforms.
THE BIG APPLE EVENT
Apple and AI, what to expect from WWDC 24

There is one week left until one of the most anticipated events of the year takes place, Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), and the entire community has high expectations regarding the announcements the company might make. Among these novelties, it is expected that they will announce the biggest software update yet, which could integrate artificial intelligence into Apple devices. Rumors also point to ChatGPT arriving on iOS, the growth of Siri thanks to new AI features, and that Apple will announce updates on the Vision Pro.
